Safeguarding Notice:
St. Matthew and St. Leonard is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishop's guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer(s), PSO's. The Diocese of Liverpool's safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm, please contact the DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
If you have any safeguarding concerns or issues on a safeguarding matter, then you can find useful contact information at htpps://www.liverpool.anglican.org/safeguarding

Establishing, implementing and following good safeguarding policies and procedures including safe recruitment;
Ensuring all staff and volunteers are aware of and follow the organisation's safeguarding policies and procedures;
Ensuring that all staff and volunteers receive safeguarding training;
What Lent is for me....
Lent is a gentle invitation from Christ to slow down. In a world full of noise, this season calls me to quiet my heart and listen more closely to God. It’s a time for reflection—on my choices, my habits, and where I’ve allowed distractions to take the place of faith. Through self-discipline, we learn that less can truly be more: less scrolling, less rushing, less clutter in my spirit. Lent isn’t about perfection, but about intention
making room for prayer, grace, and renewal. In the stillness, God speaks, and I’m reminded of what truly matters.

To support our work:
.
"St. Matthew's is a friendly church, we go to hear the Word of God and sing His praises because we believe in Jesus.
After the service we have a little talk with others over a cuppa. There is always a good atmosphere."
J&S
St. Matthew's church strives to create a welcoming child-friendly environment where everyone is made to feel at home.
There are baby changing and disabled toilet facilities. Soon there will be an upgraded tots corner and everyone is invited to stay after the service for a biscuit, a cuppa and a chat.
MY CHURCH
I have been attending St. Matthew's, Bootle for 50 years now and I've always found it to be welcoming and friendly. We are not perfect by any means, who is? Sometimes I have felt down in the dumps and the sermon that week has lifted my spirits, then afterwards having a chat over a nice cup of coffee or tea, and a biccy I've returned home feeling much better. It's like being part of a big family, that is supportive when you need it.
